In less than 3 weeks I will be leading a trip of high schoolers to Parmelee, SD, a town on the Rosebud Indian Reservation... with a bit of apprehension I might add. This picture of me was taken as we put on a Christmas program for the children of Parmelee. I think if you can look close enough, you will see the fear in my eyes. As Jake and I played, I distinctly remember a rather husky youth yelling "shut the f@#* up!" or "F@#* you mother f@#*er!". I also distinctly remember thinking "Well that's not very nice."
This trip will be the 4th trip that our ministry has taken to the town of Parmelee. We have been cursed at, thrown rocks at, and on the first trip (the only one I wasn't a part of) a child brought a homemade tomahawk in hopes of causing grave bodily damage to another child. I say that I am leading this trip with a bit of apprehension, of course, but I am also getting excited about returning. I know that God has us returning for a reason. His work is not done in the town of Parmelee, SD, it is only just beginning.
Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the venture and as we are in Parmelee (June 17-23). Here is a list of my team so that you can keep them in your prayers.
